The Kyrenia shipwreck dates from about 300 BC, during - or just after - the time of Alexander the Great. She was trading around the Mediterranean in wines, mainly with a load from Rhodes at the time of her sinking about a mile off the shore of Northern Cyprus.
The archaeological remains of the boat indicate that she probably had a crew of four, but was very old. The evidence indicates she may have been 80 years old at the time of her loss.
