The grand old lady of the Second World War has spent many years in the Pool of London as a tourist attraction.
But in the early part of this decade she was towed to Portsmouth to have a hullscrape, and a repaint.
On her return, hundreds turned out at Gravesend to see her pass the town. None of them counted on the weather interfering with the final stages of her journey.
As the ship was brought alongside Northfleet the high winds caught her. The skipper of the tug incharge - whose father had towed Belfast up-river when she first went into preservation - decided the best thing was to return to the Ocean terminal at Tilbury, and moor her for the night. The pictures capture the moment.
